RESETTING ENTREPRENEURSHIP EDUCATION CURRICULUM IN NIGERIA’S COLLEGES OF EDUCATION FOR NATIONAL NEEDS

Abstract

This paper advocates for a comprehensive overhaul of Entrepreneurship Education Curriculum to address the dynamic needs of nations. The current Curriculum often prioritizes generic entrepreneurial skills over context-specific knowledge, hindering graduates’' ability to drive national development. This study adopts a mixed-methods approach, combining qualitative and quantitative research methodologies to comprehensively explore resetting entrepreneurship education Curriculum in Nigeria’s colleges of education for national needs. A structured questionnaire was used to elicit information from for the respondents. The population comprises educators, students, policy makers and entrepreneurs in Plateau Central. A sample of 100 respondents was drawn through purposive sampling technique; additionally, a stratified random sampling method was employed to ensure representation across the colleges of education in Plateau State. The data collected through a questionnaire were analyzed using descriptive statistics. The findings indicate among other things that the current state of entrepreneurship education Curriculum requires a reset and that experiential learning is imperative in colleges of education’s entrepreneurship Curriculum. This study recommended a Curriculum reset to align with national priorities, incorporating Sustainable Development Goals, digital transformation, and regional needs.
